Camp Joy was a wonderful experience for our students at Prince of Peace. We are so grateful that CISE provided the opportunity for our students to experience the camp.
One of our students in particular showed great growth because of the camp. Alyssa is usually a quiet child, but also someone who desires much attention. Not by misbehaving, but just the need for someone to do everything for her. At camp she readily took on her responsibilities, such as table hopping, without complaining or trying to get out of the job. She even pushed herself to do the zip line, and some of the easier parts of the rope course.
The experience followed her back to school. She is less needy.
She and her sister have already been signed up to do the summer camp and I am sure she will mature even more by that adventure.
