When I think of Camp Joy many different words come to mind. Compassion, friendship, teamwork, and acceptance. My time here at Joy has been one like no other. Many people work their whole lives and never feel the comrade ray that I have felt these last five months here at camp. Working with people who have such big hearts always make you want to accomplish and give more.
They really rub off on you! Driving to work has been one of my favorite parts of going to work. Living downtown in Cincinnati never gives me the chance to be completely surrounded by nature, until I drive to Joy and enjoy the scenery.
The most rewarding part of this job is knowing that everything you do could potentially help the Joy goal of helping campers grow, learn and succeed. Even the simplest jobs make a difference and help out the whole team. There is a quote that was used one year for Joy and it’s, “Out here trees aren’t the only things that grow.” I love this saying, because it’s not just the campers growing, but the staff growing as well. I wish Camp Joy all the luck in the world, and I want to say thank-you to all the people who make up the Joy team. You have showed me what a family is all about.
