Volunteer Opportunities: How You Can Help

Camp Joy is Back and Ready for Volunteers!

As we put the struggles of 2020 behind us, we are eagerly awaiting a day in the not too distant future when our first campers will be rolling down our driveway for a wonderful summer adventure at Camp Joy. Shuttering our facility last year to the kids that depend on us the most was a difficult decision, even though we knew it was the right one at the time for the safety of the community.

We are turning the corner in 2021 and determined to make this year a fantastic experience for our campers. Due to budget constraints from the shutdown, we have been forced to operate with a minimal amount of staff, facility upkeep, and camp upgrades. For all those that had to endure disappointment and postpone their camp experience last year, we don’t want them returning to Camp Joy when it is not at its operational best.

We can use your help as we get back on our feet and get ready for a summer of JOY!  We have safety and cleaning protocols in place to minimize your staffs’ exposure to any harm. All tasks will be completed outdoors or with stringent Covid-19 safety guidelines in place under the direct supervision of our staff. We intend to make your volunteer experience as beneficial and safe for you as it is for us.

Special Messages From Our Volunteer Groups!

“We have enjoyed each and every experience we have had in working with your organization over the past few years and we look forward to future opportunities in helping your organization fulfill your goals and touch the lives of many more people in need of your good work.”    –LexisNexis Team Leader

“It is always a pleasure to come to Camp Joy, as your cause is so worthy and the projects your team select for us are fun and challenging.”
–Barbara Stefl, Business Unit Manager, ITW Air Management

“We really enjoyed getting out of the office and spending the day outside to help with trail maintenance. Cincinnati Bell has many ties to Camp Joy from spending time there working on leadership and team building to having one of our own on the board to supporting some of our kids in the various camps that you provide. It was truly an honor to help give back some of our time.”  –Valerie Kalti, Cincinnati Bell

We went to Camp Joy to learn teamwork and to have fun learning. My favorite activity was the underground railroad reenactment because it seemed so real, and it just comes to show how bad slaves were really treated. I personally learned how to deal with people that I’m stuck with or with people that don’t like too much. Camp Joy affected my school year in a way that I would work together much better with people. Camp Joy was a lot of fun.

Thank you for for being my trail group leader. Throughout my time at Camp Joy you helped me and led us through our groups’ difficult times. You were also really fun singing all of those songs while we were hiking. I also thought that you were really good in the Underground Railroad play through. You probably would have caught us because of the way that we had escape. Thank you for helping me throughout Camp Joy, you should always know that I will never forget Camp Joy because of you.

Morgan C, Camper

Thank you again for providing our campers with a phenomenal experience. It is always a great opportunity for them to connect with other campers who share in their same medical condition and make lasting friendships with their peers.

The excitement of learning and growing at Camp Joy all begins with our first connection with you.

We are excited to get the opportunity to meet you and show you camp! If it is easier, just give Tia a call at 513-478-9282
